Overview
Chakra Labs develops software replicas and interaction datasets for computer-use research. Its public site describes environments with controlled state, aligned inputs, and repeatable behavior, intended for training and evaluating agents that operate graphical interfaces.
The site shows replicas associated with workplace and design applications, including Notion, Figma, Gmail, Salesforce, Slack, and GitHub. These are presented as research environments, not claims of affiliation with the original software vendors. Chakra also describes Dojo as a platform for working with application clones and a trajectory library containing recorded workflows.
The combination of environments and demonstrations places Chakra in both training infrastructure and data supply. A replica provides somewhere to act; a trajectory records how a task was attempted. The company advertises research results and reproducibility features, but their relevance depends on the particular task and evaluation setup.
Where the approach fits
Our assessment is that controlled software replicas can help researchers study behavior that would be difficult to repeat in a live account. Consider an illustrative workflow in which an agent updates a project document and schedules a follow-up. A repeatable environment lets different agents begin with the same documents, permissions, and calendar state.
Visual similarity is only one part of that exercise. The underlying application must also respond meaningfully to actions, preserve state, and expose the consequences that matter. A convincing screenshot can conceal a shallow simulation. Conversely, a less elaborate interface may still support a useful experiment if its behavior matches the task.
Evaluating fit
Inspect both the interface and the state changes behind it. Ask which application functions are implemented, how environments reset, and how scoring handles several legitimate ways to complete a task. For demonstrations, check synchronization between screenshots, actions, and task annotations. A pilot should include unfamiliar layouts or task variations to see whether learning transfers beyond the replica. Confirm the delivery and licensing scope for environments and trajectory data separately. The most useful comparison is completed work under consistent conditions, with action histories that explain why an agent succeeded or failed.
